Starting the new year bright

New Year’s Day in Seattle was unseasonably sunny and warm – a good omen for 2012? In any event, I did my best to start the year off right by taking a few photos. There may be moss growing on the backyard fence, but there’s none growing on the camera at the moment.

I finally had a chance to do something I’ve wanted to do for the longest time: go to the Seattle Aquarium and take pictures of the moon jelly exhibit. For those who haven’t seen it, this is a giant plexiglass donut, stood on end, big enough to walk through the hole in the center.

I’ve been making a more concerted effort to take my camera out closer to home. Now I have to process all those pix! Oh, such problems… Anyway, the other day I was out wandering and realized I had taken another photo from the same spot at the opposite time of year.

After some overnight rain, today’s weather turned out much better than I’d expected. So this morning I got the camera out and headed over to the Union Bay Natural Area, a lovely little wildlife preserve in the heart of the city. The dew was still heavy on the foliage.
