Winter into spring

I’ve been making a more concerted effort to take my camera out closer to home. Now I have to process all those pix! Oh, such problems…

Anyway, the other day I was out wandering and realized I had taken another photo from the same spot at the opposite time of year. (How time flies – I’d thought it was only six months ago, but when I looked at the date of the earlier photo I realized it was a year and a half!) I thought I’d see what I could do by putting the two images together.

I tried various ways of overlaying the two pictures, but of course the trees had changed shape enough that I couldn’t get them lined up exactly. Then it hit me: contrast the reflection of the green trees in the glassy water with the yellow and orange of the fall foliage.

I’m not entirely satisfied with this image yet. When I processed the earlier photo, I enhanced the color a bit to bring out the way the trees glowed in the early light. For the double image, I think I want to tone that down. So at some point, I’ll go back to the original and spend a little more time on this project. In the meantime, there are lots of other images to work on…

What'cha think?
