What’s the best camera for a specific shot? Odds are it’s the one you have with you. By which I mean that a state-of-the-art 24 megapixel DSLR with bells, whistles, and an impossibly sharp 18-500mm f1.4 lens (if such a creature existed) does you no good if it’s sitting in its case at home.
So I confess, I occasionally succumb to using the camera on my new smartphone. (And every time I do, I think of the spot-on ads for Panasonic that say “If it has a ringtone, it’s not a camera.) It’s decent, not great, and it can’t do everything, but it does one thing my DSLR does not: it fits in my pocket.
