Since I’ve dipped back into the photos from last year’s trip to the southwest, I might as well stay with that for a bit (even though the sun has finally come out in Seattle – yay!)
This picture was taken on the road between Zion and Bryce national parks. As gorgeous as Zion is, the drive there from Las Vegas is mostly uninteresting interstate highway. So we were unprepared for the winding, narrow, breathtaking road that leads up out of Zion. Erosion by wind and weather have exposed the layers of sediment laid down over millions of years, forming patterns of contrasting color and line.
I’m not sure where this rock started out – and I’m glad I wasn’t in its way when it decided to come down.
